It’s hard to imagine a more romantic setting for a kaiseki dinner than Shanghai’s Omakase restaurant. The design was inspired by “sakura rain” which describes the phenomenon of cherry blossom petals falling gently to the ground. To recreate this uniquely Japanese experience, the designer has used pink, semi-transparent partitions and illuminated floors, decorated with flowers and dewdrop motifs. The glazed walls form a delicate balance between openness and mystery.

Adapted from the Chinese creation myth, Yi by Jereme Yeung depicts the creation of Heaven and Earth by the god Pangu. The restaurant celebrates the concept of family roots and values passed onto future generations through story telling. By reinterpreting this tradition in a modern progressive way, the designer aims to create a hidden world for guests to explore within one of Singapore’s most historical landmarks, the timeless Raffles Hotel.
