The sleek Guimiao Road Bridge Acoustic Barrier serves not only as noise mitigator but also as the Gateway to Qianhai, a new economic zone for innovative industries. The 770-m barrier is a fully enclosed elliptical tube. The architect cleverly oriented the arch frames at a 45-degree angle to the road, as if swayed by the movement of vehicles, giving an impression of fluidity and simplicity. The circular profile of the steel structures also provided significant weight and cost savings.
