Siji Minfu Restaurant is a striking warehouse conversion which appeals to the increasingly sophisticated tastes of young urban diners in Beijing. Originally built In 1981 as a warehouse for paper products, the redesign retains a sense of wide-open spaces, especially on the second floor, reached by an escalator, which conjures up feelings of a grand open “temple”, where the columns are tall and mottled, connected with new and old materials and enclosed by a huge four-corner cap and honeycomb roof. Rock-lined waterscapes and persimmon trees are among the unique features.
