A&D community embraces the awards – and the future

A&D Awards 2020 has again proven its importance to the architecture and interior design community – and a newly-introduced category also proved to be a big hit!

With the final tally completed, more than 300 projects were submitted from architectural and design practices across Greater China, with just over 50% from Hong Kong-based studios. One of the new categories – Future Developments – attracted just over 20% of the Architecture submissions.

Interior design projects were again the most popular, accounting for two-thirds of entries. Best Workplace, Best Bar & Restaurant and Best Leisure facility were the top three categories.

Of the Architecture categories, Best Mixed Use development ranked alongside Best Future Development as the top categories, followed Best Community facility. Future Developments was added this year to shine a light on the latest trends and capture the very best projects that architects and clients are planning here and around the world.

Another new category, Innovation and Technology – Smart Living and Working, focused on product design, rather than projects, and the most popular category was Bathrooms.

Most of the projects were either planned or completed in Greater China, with just 7% relating to International projects.
