The first round of judging for A&D Awards 2020 has been completed! Some 96 projects – out of the total 305 entries submitted – made the shortlist and are in the running to win a coveted A&D Gold Award in their respective categories for architecture and interior design in Greater China and beyond.

Just over 30 projects were shortlisted in the Architecture and Future Developments categories, while a further 65 were shortlisted in the Interior Design and Innovation & Technology categories. Round Two of judging by the panel of 15 internationally renowned judges, many of whom remarked on the high calibre of projects, is now underway.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed judging A&D Awards this year,” commented London-based architecture judge Cecilia Ho, director of Design Haus Liberty . “There have been a lot of impressive submissions, particularly projects that managed to deliver a harmonious mix of contemporary design with local heritage. I can’t wait to get onto Round Two of the judging.”

In Round One, judges scored projects out of the 30 against a specific set of criteria relevant to the category. Considerations included creativity, functionality, aesthetics, sustainability as well as the extent to which the project delivered on the client’s brief. Shortlisted projects face a second round of scrutiny by the judges before being ranked against others shortlisted in each category.

The more rigorous, two-tier judging system was adopted this year to ensure that only the very best projects receive a Gold, Silver or Bronze Award. The Architecture awards shortlist will be announced on Monday November 16 and the Interior Design shortlist on Wednesday, November 18, ahead of the final results being announced via the A&D Awards website in early December.
