Every project I undertake is a unique journey, an exploration into the history, culture, and essence of a place. My design philosophy is rooted in the belief that design is not just about creating visually appealing spaces, but about crafting experiences and atmospheres that resonate with the people who inhabit them.
My work spans a diverse array of projects in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, from Indian inspired street canteens to savoury urban cocktail bars to high-end classical bars nestled within heritage buildings. Regardless of the nature of the project, my approach remains consistent - listen to the brief, understand the atmosphere, and translate it into a design that is both functional and engaging.
Inspired by the concept of ’Serious Play’ articulated by the German philosopher Gadamer, I aim to create spaces that balance practicality with playfulness. Every detail, from the choice of colour and material to the lighting and layout, is carefully considered to create an environment that is not only efficient but also imbued with joy and positivity.
I believe I deserve to be among the ’40 under 40’ winners because my work goes beyond the traditional confines of interior design. Each project I undertake is a commitment to enhance Hong Kong’s cultural landscape, to create spaces that bring joy to the city and its people. My work is a testament to the transformative power of design, its ability to touch lives and uplift spirits.
