Design Philosophy:

My design philosophy centers on the idea of duality: the pursuit of balance between the extremes. This rests on three ideas: technology and traditional craft; the built environment and natural ecology; and merging client needs with broader civic responsibility. I view these forces not as conflicts, but as complementary tools. Leveraging advanced digital tools, I seamlessly integrate the principles of vernacular architecture.

The structures we create are intentionally designed to be technically advanced, culturally relevant, and climatically responsible, with every project rigorously assessed against these core dualities.

Professional Impact

This philosophy has been tested across a diverse range of projects. As a Registered Architect in HK, I’ve gained a unique global perspective by transferring my expertise from our Miami office into our practice in Hong Kong. This global perspective is evident in our winning projects across sites in China, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Malaysia, Senegal, and Vietnam. This global reach validates the design philosophy’s ability to create impactful solutions that successfully reconcile the client’s commercial goals and broader civic responsibility.

Beyond the Studio

My dedication to architecture extends beyond traditional works into public engagement. I actively participate in installations and design competitions to foster dialogue on sustainable design and urban futures. Exhibited projects include Between a Lion’s Rock and Hard Place at REVEAL 2 HKIA and Play to Change. I also serve as a Junior Ambassador for the Jacques Rougerie Foundation, advocating for design focused on marine and coastal habitat conservation.

Academic Contribution

Mentorship is vital for sustaining this design dialogue. I have served the next generation as a teaching assistant at the University of Miami (with Ted Givens) and HKU SPACE (with Frisly Colop). This includes leading digital workshops through the Free Form Lab and participating in architectural critiques at Chuhai College, ensuring professional standards remain critically engaged.
