Design Philosophy:

Sam has forged a successful career in both London and Asia, after joining HOK he became the company's youngest ever Associate working across retail, workplace and science&technology sectors. At under 30 Sam was leading the interior design and delivery of the award-winning Francis Crick Institute in London’s King’s Cross. Over a 3-year period he built successful relationships with the client-body of construction experts and Nobel Prize winning Scientists working to deliver all design stages from concept to tender documentation, after the appointment of the main contractor Sam managed the site supervision of the GBP 60Million interior fit out of all public spaces and labs. Shortly after the Francis Crick completion in 2014 Sam moved to Hong Kong to join Benoy, as an Associate Director, for the 1st year Sam lead the interior design of the retail component of the award winning ‘Jewel’ project at Singapore Changi Airport collaborating between the HK and Singapore offices and the lead architect Moshe Safdie. Sam also worked across many retail projects in PRC including managing the design for the K11 Artmall in Beijing. In 2016 Sam left Benoy to Co-found Studio X, a firm driven by creativity and customer brand experience. Over the past 5.5 years Studio X has become well known for designing and delivering brilliant retail, F&B and workplace projects throughout the region for a host of global brands and developers. As Project Director, Sam leads the project management and design delivery of all Studio Xs projects working from inception on tenders right through to onsite fit-out works. Sam’s role is diverse, covering front facing client management, drawing packages, contractor tender & onsite management, in addition to business operations. Sam sees Studio X as a vehicle to provide solid design employment to the younger generation and is passionate about mentoring upcoming talent.
