Design Philosophy:
Adelina is driven by a belief in balancing architecture and design, that the twin elements of form and space should also be informed by principles of sustainability to create enduring projects harmoniously integrating both aesthetic design and environmental efficiency. With keen awareness of the evolving needs in today’s Built Environment, Adelina is appreciative of the nuances in interactions between physical space and mental wellbeing of users. Developing upon a holistic understanding that design should also encompass human-centric concerns, another aspect of Adelina’s design philosophy is focused on the more subtle and often neglected constituents of building design. Stemming from this multifaceted understanding of the Built Environment, Adelina was among the first 13 Built Environment professionals in Singapore that have attained both WiredScore and SmartScore accreditation. WiredScore is a benchmarking tool that analyses the digital connectivity aspects of a given building. SmartScore highlights buildings that demonstrate a high degree of sensitivity to principles of sustainability and user-wellbeing, such as temperature, circulation routes, air quality and community satisfaction.
Adelina was also part of the pioneer team to establish NimbleSIM, DP Architect’s own in-house tool employed by architects to perform iterative building performance simulations (BPS). NimbleSIM enables architects to make design decisions with more speed and confidence, bridging the gap between science, technology and design. Her expertise in environmental and building analysis, specifically climatic responsive design, passive cooling strategies, and building simulations and modelling, has led to her becoming the key lecturer for Singapore’s Building and Construction Authority’s Certification Course on Solar Modelling, educating fellow Built Environment industry professionals on elements of sustainable design.
Adelina has completed numerous building typologies ranging from master planning, institution, sports facilities, healthcare, commercial and residential developments, both in Singapore and overseas. Many of her projects have successfully achieved the highest levels of Green Mark certification.
