Resort-style living in a tropical paradise

Sudara, a luxurious resort-style condominium at Phuket’s Bang Tao beach, is the latest addition to a growing portfolio of prestigious residential projects by the Lan Kwai Fong Group, the creative force behind the legendary Hong Kong entertainment district, and its partners.

A stunning open-sided pavilion (see impression above), with a series of steps leading down to the main pool, is the centre point of the new project, designed collaboratively by the LKF Design Studio, Paradise Design, the group’s Thai development arm, and Bangkok-based landscape consultant Tectonix.

“It’s the star of the show”, according to LKF Design Studio principal Bill Lykouras who says the pavilion-cum-clubhouse embodies the project’s contemporary tropical resort ambience. Eschewing the somewhat clichéd description of “modern Thai”, he says Sudara will be “simple but elegant” incorporating some of the best elements of local design, such as the openness of pavilion, without resorting to traditional Thai rooflines or motifs.

As well as offering beautiful views from under its soaring canopy, the Pavilion will become a focal point for the resident community with a range of guest facilities managed by the Group’s renowned Andara Resort and Villas team, including pools, café, fitness centre, outdoor lounges, kids club and teens gaming room, underground parking, and concierge services.

Located just 500m from the waterfront, Sudara will offer 220 one, two and three-bedroom units over six levels surrounded by pools and lush tropical gardens spread over a 35,000 sq m enclosed site. Each condominium features composite stone floors, neutral tones and shaded balconies with garden and pool views. Some ground floor units will come with private pools and gardens.

Lykouras says landscaping partner Tectonix helped select native foliage to create the perfect environment for relaxed living. Careful consideration was also given to the placement of buildings to maximise natural light and ventilation, as well the orientation of the pools to ensure they receive sunlight throughout the day. Sustainability is key to the design, with eco-friendly materials, solar panels delivering power to common areas, and water recapture and recycling systems.

Construction of Phase 1 is due to start by the end of this year, with a completion date of end-2026. Sudara follows the success of two other Phuket developments by the LKF Group, Andara Resort & Villas and Aquella Lakeside Villas.

Over the past decade, the Group has also expanded into mainland China and Hong Kong with residential projects in Hong Kong, and lifestyle-based commercial projects in Shanghai, Chengdu and the Greater Bay Area. For the company which founded Hong Kong’s famous nightlife precinct, it seems the party has only started!
