Design Philosophy:
My design philosophy centers on the belief that architecture is not merely a physical construct but a cultural medium-a bridge between memory, material, and emotion. I see architecture as a living language that carries human values across time, revealing how history, nature, and technology can coexist in harmony. Each project begins with a question: how can space heal, connect, and inspire communities in transition?
With academic training from Harvard University and USC, and professional experience at SOM, UNStudio, Coop Himmelb(l)au, and Rafael Viñoly Architects, I have contributed to global landmarks such as the Doha Metro Stations, Chicago Chinatown Library, and New Stanford Hospital-projects recognized by the U.S. Green Building Gold Award, Louis Sullivan Award, and Prix Versailles Award.
I aim to transform cultural heritage and local identity into catalysts for contemporary renewal. Whether revitalizing the historic Beijing Ivory Carving Factory or creating The Light of the North Musical Art Center in Finland, I strive to merge the poetic with the practical - translating intangible cultural narratives into tangible, sustainable forms. My approach integrates craft and innovation: the use of recycled materials, modular systems, and intelligent environmental design reflects my commitment to sustainability as a form of respect for both people and place.
I believe good architecture must do more than express beauty; it must generate meaning and continuity. My works have been recognized with over a dozen international awards - including BLT, DNA Paris, MUSE, London Design, and FDA - and featured in ArchDaily and Designboom, yet my true pursuit remains the same: to build spaces that preserve cultural depth while embracing the future.
Being selected among the 40 Under 40 would be both an honor and an affirmation of my commitment to architecture that bridges worlds—between past and present, East and West, humanity and environment.
