Design Philosophy:
Deeply passionate about tectonics—where materiality, assembly, and human connection converge—I am intrigued by expressions of façade elements in architecture and engineering. From the malleability of metal to the emotional resonance of terracotta and the intricate geological layers of stone, I enjoy uncovering the stories embedded within details. By leveraging modern technologies, I endeavor to push the boundaries of contemporary craftsmanship while preserving material authenticity. Through this integration, architecture not only meets functional needs but also sparks emotional and intellectual resonance.
The three selected projects highlight distinct themes of tectonics: the alternating glass façade of One Causeway Bay, the integrated ventilator of the Satcom Tower, and the terracotta iterations of One Shenzhen Bay. These works demonstrate the complexity and beauty I strive to achieve, showcasing how materiality and assembly can define and elevate architecture.
My professional journey has been shaped by hands-on experiences across cultures, building types, and scales. At FCJZ, I embraced an experimental design philosophy in craftsmanship. At KKAA, I refined my expertise in materials and detailing. At KPF, I kept learning and collaborated with a global team to apply advanced technologies and resources to realize large-scale, impactful projects.
This trajectory reflects the versatility and forward-thinking approach celebrated by the ""40 under 40"" award, which honors innovation, learning, and diversity across scales. In an era increasingly dominated by digital and virtual tools, I believe architecture must remain grounded in the tactile essence of craft and reality.
I am dedicated to hands-on learning, mentoring, and sharing knowledge to ensure architecture continues to be a medium of connection, not just spectacle. Recognition from ""40 under 40"" would serve as a catalyst to further my mission of creating meaningful, impactful designs that enrich both the industry and the communities we serve.
