Design Philosophy:
With over 15 years of experience across Asia, Europe, and North America, Fay Zhou brings a global perspective as a Director at Aedas. Fay takes every project as a unique opportunity for architectural storytelling, to reflect the traditions and evolving values rooted in our culture. She firmly believes that exceptional designs transcend prescribed styles, emerged from close collaboration with clients, while upholding utmost respect to the environmental, economic, and social context for the community.
As one of the design leaders in Aedas’s Shenzhen Office, she provides decisive, accountable leadership—setting design intent, codifying early performance targets, and orchestrating stakeholder alignment across large, complex commissions spanning districts, industrial campuses, super-tall towers, and public facilities. Her recent significant and award-winning projects include Ulaanbaatar Eco Tower One, Shenzhen Construction Industry Ecological & Intelligent Valley HQ, Guangzhou Nansha Futures Industrial Park, Shenzhen Bagualing Industrial Park Urban Renewal, Zhuhai Hengqin Science City Phase III, and Shenzhen Airport Training Center.
As the youngest female Design Director at Aedas, she serves as an inspiring example for aspiring female architects, demonstrating resilience, leadership, and excellence. Fay’s design perspective was shaped by close collaboration with visionary industry leaders, such as Keith Griffiths of Aedas, Cesar Pelli, and Lawrence Ng of Pelli Clarke Partners. Their mentorship fundamentally refined her understanding of design as a powerful form of communication, a legacy she is now committed to advancing and passing to the next generation. Actively engaging in academic and professional exchanges within the industry, Fay also serves as a design jury member for the Aedas/SZU Scholarship program.
Holding a BArch from Cornell University and her MSc in Real Estate Development from New York University, Fay envisions a future for architecture where design intelligence and cross-cultural understanding merge to create resilient, meaningful places that endure through time.
