Design Philosophy:
I am a design architect with 12+ years of diverse experience. Trained in China and America, I’ve practiced on award-winning projects across various sectors like resort, retail, cultural and mixed-use developments, renovation and building conservation. Currently I lead a team at LWK+Partners, dedicated to building better communities in Asia.
My design philosophy is rooted in the idea of creating more values by excellent design to make a better world. In fact, the expectation from design is beyond the space we design. By comprehensively interpretating site context, local culture, citizen and developer demands, economy fluctuation, history conservation, and more factors, I put architecture into social networks to dissolve the complexity. Meanwhile, sophisticated requirements are solved in a concise way with values created by sustainability, adaptation, functional comfort, prefabrication , spatial and material creativity.
Guided by these design principles, more outstanding communities have been shaped for residents, citizens, developers and daily customers, like Chengdu CIFI Cmall, Gallium Valley Science Park, and Hebei Grand Hotel. The ambition to produce excellent design was early encouraged and inspired by New York 2014 Architectural League Prize earned by Von Oeyen Architects projects which I worked on. Besides, more interesting projects lead by me like the Ring projects of Hong Kong Land are under construction and opening soon.
Design is also an art of communication. Sharing design ideas with developers, counter partners, citizens through projects, international forums, and street investigations is part of how I take the responsibility as a designer.
Inspiring the next generation is an important part of my work, including lecturing at institutions like Wuhan University and SCAD HK. As a 40 Under 40 Award winner, I will continue to contribute to shaping outstanding communities and helping to make a better world.
