Design Philosophy:
Javian is a Registered Architect in Hong Kong, and currently Senior Manager of the “Creative Projects – PRC Team B” in K11 Concepts Ltd., where she leads the Architecture & Design Management for various upcoming retail and mixed-use projects in Greater China.
Ever since her thesis, Javian has been deeply interested in the idea of ‘public’ space and how it relates to fostering creativity and community in everyday-life. Believing that architecture is fundamentally a dialogue between space and people; that architects are ‘translators’ between this discourse, and ‘life-stylists’ through place-making; Javian’s passion lies in creating spatial experiences that facilitate interaction and promoting architecture to the public.
Putting such beliefs into action, Javian returned to HK and organized its first Park(ing) Day; ever since, she has been curating, organizing and participating in various exhibitions and programmes such as “City Dress up: “Seats. Together”, “More than High-rise: Exploring Hong Kong through Architecture” etc.
At the office, Javian collaborates with many renowned architects and designers such as OMA, David Chipperfield, Sou Fujimoto etc. Her role in Design Management effectively refines and brings together design and other functional aspects such as operations and leasing, to curate holistic and stimulating experiences that can ultimately enrich people’s daily lives.
Additionally, Javian has remained active as a designer herself, gaining awards in design competitions such as “City Dress-up 2”, “HKIA Innovative Youth Housing” etc., she also received an Honourable Mention for the HKIA Young Architects Award 2019.
Javian has also contributed to the HK architectural community throughout the years by serving the Hong Kong Institute of Architects in various roles, from co-chairing the Young Members Committee to chairing the Board of Internal Affairs and becoming a Council Member in 2017-18. She demonstrates that one can contribute to shaping a better future for the industry in many different ways.
