Design Philosophy:
"" Live Beyond The Limit "" - Patrick hopes to enhance our living environment with endless possibilities, especially in a high dense context, to be responsive to the changing living needs and limited space in the world.
As the founder of architectural and interior practice Sim-Plex Design Studio from 2017, Patrick was involved in numerous projects which range with different scales from Hong Kong to India. The work of Sim-Plex promotes that micro design could be responsive to macro social issues and context. In 2020, the studio was the first Hong Kong Studio to win the dezeen award, and Patrick was invited as a Judge of Dezeen Award in the next year.
Patrick believes that as long as the information and technology is developing rapidly, a holistic approach in design is a better way to the industry instead of a segregated way. After studying the first Master of Architecture(CUHK) in 2010 , he further studied to have a second Master degree, Master of Arts in Fine Arts (CUHK) in 2016. Not only being a registered architect in Hong Kong, Patrick is also a BEAM Pro as well as Leed AP (BD+C) of the U.S.A. Uptill now, he was also a part-time lecturer of both Hong Kong Design Institute (HKDI) and Hong Kong College of Technology (HKCT) in the field of Architecture and Interior Design. Patrick still enjoys the multi-discipline identities of being an architect, interior designer, lecturer or artist.
Patrick and Sim-Plex provide full design services to clients, which not only include architectural and interior design, but also include building services for showcasing their core values. In the early architectural projects which Patrick takes lead in Ronald Lu and Partners, Patrick already shows a great passion in design which ranges from schematic design, development and construction.
Having lived in a tiny tenement apartment in Kowloon city for many years, small and packed space is no stranger to Patrick. This long- term experience of living drove his force to keep investigating the possibilities of expanding a limited space.
