Design Philosophy:
Focusing on public design is an effective way to raise the public awareness in design culture. I have been working on small-scale public projects with the Government, NGOs and Church to explore how to activate public space and reflect local culture since 2010. Besides the design works exhibited in Spain, Japan, China, etc, as chief-curator, I promoted HK’s building culture on international stage such as London Festival of Architecture 2019. My works involve complicated geometry and prefabrication that I believe when coping with the challenge with contractors and fabricators, we innovate.
With diverse experience, from Danish renowned office and top locals in HK, I am keen on designing with impact; creating for society and future generations. While the regular practice cannot satisfy my vision to the industry’s betterment, I act as a major player for RLP’s research arm BEHAVE and since 2015 I started teaching career. I turned my part-time teaching into an edge by sharing my experience from urban furniture to building, from landscape to BIM. Akin to my adventurous career path, I encourage exposure to cross-discipline, competitions, beyond what is offered in classroom.
The involvement in various committees, including HKIA, HKIBIM since 2015 reveals my commitment to the industry and Professional Institutes. As one of the youngest BIM advocates as architect, I am Assessor for CCBM and HKIA BIM Pro. I proactively participate in voluntary design workshops, stakeholders’ forums, symposiums regarding design culture.
My ability to marry digital tools and design thinking equips myself unique skillset to envision future architecture, my charisma allows me to motivate colleagues and students to work with material and fabrication with the aid of technology. With my global and practice-teaching vision, I am not only able to impose social and design impact to society, but cultivates our next generations of practitioners and makers.
